Welcome & About the Group

At The BloomHouse, we believe in the power of shared experiences and collective strength. This is a nurturing, peer-led space created specifically for Black mothers to connect, share, heal, and thrive. We understand the unique joys and challenges of Black motherhood, and we're here to offer support, understanding, and a sense of community for your mental wellness journey.

You are not alone. Join us to find connection, share your truth, and gain tools for resilience in a confidential and affirming environment.

I realized that I don’t have to be perfect. All I have to do is show up and enjoy the messy, imperfect, and beautiful journey of my life.
— Kerry Washington

What to Expect

Our sessions are designed to be a source of comfort and empowerment. When you join us, you can expect:

  • Peer-Led Support: Our sessions are guided by fellow Black mothers who understand the journey, fostering a sense of shared experience and mutual support.

  • A Safe & Confidential Space: We prioritize creating an environment where you feel secure to share openly without judgment. What's shared in the group, stays in the group.

  • Validation & Understanding: You'll find a community that truly 'gets it' – where your experiences, feelings, and perspectives are heard, respected, and validated.

  • Coping Strategies & Resources: While we are not a therapy group, we often discuss healthy coping mechanisms, self-care practices, and share valuable resources to support your mental well-being.

  • Empowerment & Connection: Leave feeling uplifted, more connected, and empowered to navigate the beautiful complexities of motherhood.

  • Virtual Accessibility: All our regular support group meetings are held online via a secure video conferencing platform, allowing you to participate from the comfort and privacy of your home."

Group Guidelines

To ensure The BloomHouse remains a supportive, respectful, and safe space for all members, we ask everyone to honor these guiding principles:

  1. Confidentiality is Key: What is said in the group stays in the group. Please do not share personal stories or identities of other members outside of the session.

  2. Respectful Listening: Listen actively and without interruption. Everyone deserves to be heard.

  3. Speak Your Truth, Not Others': Use "I" statements to share your own experiences and feelings. Avoid giving unsolicited advice unless explicitly asked.

  4. No Judgment: Come with an open heart and mind. We are here to support, not to judge.

  5. Be Present: Minimize distractions during the session to fully engage with the group.

  6. Punctuality: Please try to join on time to ensure minimal disruption once the session has started.

  7. Right to Pass: You always have the right to pass if you do not wish to share during a particular moment.

  8. Positive Intent: Assume positive intent from others, even if you disagree. Address conflicts respectfully if they arise.

  9. This is Not Therapy: While our group is for mental wellness, it is not a substitute for professional therapy or medical advice. We encourage members to seek professional help if needed.

  10. Zero Tolerance for Hate/Bias: We are a safe space for all Black mothers. Any form of discrimination, hate speech, or disrespect will not be tolerated.
